PASADENA, CA – Lights! Camera! Action! More than 450 parents, alumni and parishioners are expected to walk the red carpet to attend A Night at the Oscars, St. Philip the Apostle School’s annual dinner dance and auction on Saturday, March 7th. Paparazzi’s may capture a shot or two of Oscar-worthy dresses at the black-tie optional event to be held at the Pasadena Convention Center in what hopes to be a star-studded affair. The Pasadena Convention Center is located at 300 East Green Street in Pasadena.

Attendees of A Night at the Oscars will begin the evening with hors d’oeuvres and cocktails while perusing the silent auction items. An exclusive St. Philip the Apostle School “movie screening” will be shown to patrons. In a new twist to the annual event, the live auction will take place outside of thedining room reminiscent of a real live auction house. Live auction items include a week in Lake Tahoe, a ride-along in a Pasadena Police helicopter, a private mass and dinner with Reverend Joe Moniz, and amini-schnauzer puppy. In addition, gorgeous jewelry will be raffled in a 54-card draw to women who want to add a little bling to their jewelry box. A second 54-card draw will consist of a wine pull of 50 bottles of wine to be raffled off during the evening.

The Oscar-worthy guests will dine on macadamia nut mahi mahi, flat iron steak and vegetable wellington along with dessert worthy of a thumbs-up. A photo booth will be on site to capture star power. Guests will finish the gold star evening with dancing to pop tunes by DJ Feet First.

“The Dinner Dance and Auction is our school’s largest fundraiser. The evening proceeds go directly to support academic programs, tuition assistance, and enrichment programs for our children. These programs include computers, Spanish, Art, Academic Decathlon, six sports teams, Drama, and Speech and Debate,” said Sheridan Link, Dinner Dance and Auction Procurement Chair and school parent.

The mission of Saint Philip the Apostle School is to provide a child-centered learning environment inwhich the spiritual, intellectual, emotional and physical needs of each child are met. As an essential component of the teaching ministry of Saint Philip the Apostle Parish, the school provides an exceptional education by integrating Catholic values with high academic standards and service to others. The school embraces an appreciation of diversity and mutual respect and seeks to inspire each student to adopt his or her unique role as a child of God.
