Ever wonder what space is like? Here’s the event for you. On Saturday and Sunday October 10th and 11th, the Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) invites you to “take a ‘ride’ through the wonders of space.” For free. That’s right; from 9am until 4pm come see JPL’s life-size model of Mars Science Laboratory, demonstrations from numerous space missions, JPL’s machine shop, and the Microdevices Lab. You’ll view the areas where tiny technology is used and robotic spacecraft parts are built. Oh, my!
JPL’s origins began back in the 1930s, when Caltech students and rocket fans came together because of their love of rockets. Today, the lab “is a place where science, technology, and engineering intermix in uniques ways: to produce iconic robotic space explorers sent to every corner of the solar system, to peer deep into the Milky Way galaxy and beyond, and to keep a watchful eye on our home planet.”
Parking and tickets are free — no RSVP required!
